#1531 new enhancement

Category and event organisation

Reported by: hoffmann Owned by:
Priority: normal Milestone: v2.4
Component: General Version: 1.1
Keywords: category, event, link Cc:

Description

The present schema allows

  • only categories in a category
  • only events in a category.

It would be helpful (cf. discussions in 1st InDiCo? workshop and on project-indico-administrators@…, Dec 3rd, 2013) to have a more flexible schema:

  • mixing: categories + events in a category
  • linking: pointer to another category or another event, but displayed exactly like a category or event.

Linking should be possible cross-InDiCo?-wise (from one server instance to another).

Change History (3)

I agree.

That should be a very very good feature, the reason is because many events is "sponsored" by more than one organization. For example if we got 2 categories :

University A
University B

and a event co-organized by both university I don't have any place to put this event. If I put in University A, the other going to complain and vice-versa.

You can change University by Laboratory, by Research-group, etc.

So yes....

  • Milestone set to v2.4

This seems to be an extension of #1118, which is right now scheduled for 2.4.
As for the schema change, that is something we will have to discuss later.
With the DB change we might already lay the groundwork for that to be possible. But let's get back to that in some months.
