Or the dashboard does not check the necessary field? Unlikely though.
In any case, after being added as a speaker+submitter to a contribution the event did not show up in my dashboard.

Can't reproduce. Setting cache TTL to 1 and refreshing Redis links manually (admin tool in the dashboard) makes the events show up/update just fine.
This false-positive is probably caused by misunderstanding of cache behavior, which is telling us something if even developers believe it's a bug.
I opened a new ticket to improve the behavior of cache update to make it more responsive and obvious to everyone.
